In July 2021, England played Italy in the final of the men’s UEFA European Championship, which had been postponed by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This was the first time England had reached the final in the competition’s 60-year history.

These photographs were taken in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, hours before the game had even begun, as jubilant fans partied their way towards kick off.

England went 1-0 up just two minutes into the game, but went on to lose 3-2 on penalties.
